SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING (STE) PROGRAM
Cavite National High School
(CNHS), by the virtue of DepEd Order No. 40, series 2010 entitled Expansion
of S&T Oriented (ESEP) High Schools Effective School Year 2010-2011,
was formally recognized to offer the special curricular program in science as a
Type A school. For the school year 2013-2014, the school has total enrollment
of 6,161 students wherein 0.05% of the population is enrolled in the STE
Program housed in two sections per year level. Students of the program are
mainly residents of Cavite City and few are from nearby towns of Noveleta,
Rosario and Kawit. These students are from families of varied socio-economic
status. To date, the school continues to serve as one of the centers of
excellence in Science education in the Division of Cavite City.
In parallel with the main purpose of the STE Program to lay the foundation for a career and/or support to a career for a learner with interest and aptitude in Science, Technology and Engineering, Cavite National High School consistently persevere to develop the curriculum, instruction and the learning environment in Science. For years now, the STE Program of the school produced numerous students who are pursuing science-related courses in the tertiary level. Every year, the school successfully produces student-researchers in which their science researchers are recognized in various research fairs both in the regional and national levels. Also, selected students of the program continue to bag various awards in science-related contests like quiz competitions. |

Science and Technology Fair
The Division Science Fair, held last September 6, 2014 at Julian R. Felipe Elementary School, was joined by the students of IV-Agate and IV-Alexandrite. Three individual entries and 14 team entries were showcased during the project exhibit. Winning entries include:

Narciso (IV-Agate) First Place (Team, Applied Science) SMART-O-SCOPE (Portable Microscope Using Smartphone) Authors: Orlando Jr. V. Tarac, Aljohn Mark S. Reyes, and john Jeremiah B. Luna (IV-Alexandrite) First Place Lengthening the Vase Life of Cut Rose using Sucrose and Rice Broth Solutions Authors: Maria Aurienne V. Estanque, Jaycelyn L. Bisain, and Jewel Irish Z. Gazmin (IV-Alexandrite) First placers in Applied and Life Science Individual and Team categories of the Division of Cavite City participated in the Regional Science Fair held last October 13-16, 2014 at Tagaytay City Science High School. Aside from the Research Fair, other highlights of the event include contest in Poster-Making, Science Quiz bee, Sci-Folio for Master Teachers, and Action Research for Teachers. REGIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD
Students from the special science classes of Cavite National High School joined the regional event ‘14th Chemistry Olympiad’ held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) last November 8, 2014 (see attached invitation). The event organized by the UPLB Chemical Kinetics Society (Chemokinesis) in cooperation with the Kapisanang Kimika ng Pilipinas- Southern Tagalog (KKP-ST) and the UPLB Institute of Chemistry includes Chemistry Olympiad (Quiz Bee), Feature-Writing Contest, and Chem-in-Hue (Poster-Making Contest).
